Alert Notice 625: ASASSN-18ey = MAXI J1820+070 coverage needed for VLT and XMM

March 21, 2018: Dr. Tom Maccarone (Texas Tech University) has requested AAVSO observers' assistance in monitoring the outbursting black hole X-ray binary ASASSN-18ey = MAXI J1820+070 in support of VLT and XMM observations scheduled for:

2018 22 March 08-09:30 UT  and  29 March 08-09:30 UT

V time series are requested, with as short a cadence as possible (ideally, a time resolution of 0.1 second or better).

Alert Notice 526: Monitoring of LS IV -14 116 in support of upcoming satellite observations

August 20, 2015Prof. Simon Jeffery (Armagh Observatory; Trinity College Dublin) has requested photometric monitoring of the pulsating helium and zirconium-rich hot subdwarf LS IV -14 116 in support of upcoming HST and VLT/UVES spectroscopy. AAVSO observations will supplement photometry due to be obtained with the SAAO 1.0-m and IAC 0.8-m telescopes from 18 August to 2 September 2015. Photometry is requested beginning immediately through 2 September.

Alert Notice 389: Support for VLT spectroscopy of the novalike variable VY Scl

November 11, 2008 : Dr. Steve Howell (NOAO, Tucson) informs us that he has been awarded time to obtain spectroscopic observations of the cataclysmic variable VY Scl with the Very Large Telescope in Chile. These observations are being  sought during VY Scl's current deep minimum, which began some time before 2008 September 20 (JD 2454730). VLT observations are scheduled via prioritized queue, and the exact observation time is not yet known; however, observations are expected within 1-2 weeks.

Alert Notice 478: Transformed photometry of young stars in Cha requested

January 16, 2013: Dr. Péter Ábrahám (Konkoly Observatory, Budapest, Hungary) has requested the assistance of AAVSO observers in monitoring eight young stars in Chamaeleon in support of photometry he and his colleagues will be obtaining with the VLT/ISAAC (infrared) and Herschel Space Observatory (far-infrared) during January-February 2013.
