For at least the next few months I will have significant time available to me on an automated 17.5" Planewave CDK w/QHY600 camera located under metz-a-metz skies in MA.
Now for the problem: The only filters available are L and an SHO set until at least March. On backorder are B, V, R and I filters.
Other than exoplanet observation (which will have HUGE datasets) is there any other useful work that can be done with it for AAVSO now?

I wonder if it would be possible to borrow a set of filters..
A shame not putting that scope to proper photometry!
I'm a member of the Cape Cod Astronomical Society and we have filters not getting much use right now. I could investigate the possibility of loaning them to you.
What are the logistics? where is the scope, what time period, etc.

That is a great idea, George.
Peter: if V and I filters can be found, you might consider resuming the monitoring of certain Miras and other LPVs whose lightcurve gaps are growing. Your aperture is certainly plenty, and CMOS would give an advantage in the short exposures that would be needed in I filter.
Thanks for…
George and Eric,
Thanks for the suggestions!
Our filter wheel accepts 50mm round unthreaded. Filters are on order from Optical Structures.
The scope is at ATMs of Boston. Right now in Lincoln MA, but headed to our site in Westford MA once MIT allows us to move it there. Concrete piers to support observatory are in place, fiber and power runs in place. Camera w/FW works on the bench under automated control, scope works under remote control, but obviously no cal work done yet.
