The first batch of AAVSOnet_Monitor Survey targets have been adopted. Arne has updated the list to include the following targets:
EE_Cep
EU_Del
GO_Cnc
R_CrB
RR_Lyr
These targets are already being observed by the robotically controlled Bright Star Monitor network, but they need member volunteers interested in performing the photometry and data submittal tasks on new images as they become available. Just indicate your willingness to adopt them in a reply to this message and indicate whether you would like the images placed in your VPhot account. For those who may be new to CCD imaging, you can receive help through this forum. Also, the BSM Section can be found on the AAVSO Observing Sections dropdown menu, which also provides information on the BSM network.
Clear Skies,
Mike
Willling to perform photometry on these 5 targets via my VPhot account.
Dave DJD
Dave,
Thank you for your interest. Would you consider first adopting EE_Cep and placing a claim to any remaining that are not claimed, say within a week. Charles Cynamonhas has requested GO_Cnc, so I'd like to accept his offer too. What do you think?
Please submit a brief proposal for EE_Cep. We ask that you submit one using the AAVSOnet proposal template. A simple statement such as, "I am submitting this proposal in support of the BSM Section request for the legacy AAVSO Monitoring Survey stars" will suffice.
Mike
Mike
I would like to have the GO_Cnc images sent to my VPHOT account. Also, the BSM website indicated I can send an email for help with the TAC proposal. Who should I contact for assistance?
Chuck
I'd be happy to adopt one of stars. I'll take GO Cnc
Thanks for taking on GO Cnc.
We ask that the adopter write a brief proposal to the Telescope Allocation Committee, perform the photometric analysis and submit the data to the AAVSO International Database. The images can be available through your VPhot account, please indicate this in the proposal text.. We would appreciate transformed measurements where filter data is available, but this is not a requirement.
We keep a Target table on the BSM Section web-page. The page can be found through the AAVSO Oserving Section drop-down menu. The table will indicate the Target, your Obscode and date assigned. You can find out how to write the proposal by going to this same web-page. For the proposal science statement, you can indicate that you are responding to this BSM Section request for these legacy AAVSO Monitoring Survey stars.
If you have any questions you can contact me here or by email.
Thanks again,
Mike
Mike,
I'd like to follow R CrB with the BSM network.
Phil Sullivan
OK, Great,
All you need for the proposal text box is:
"I am submitting this proposal in support of the BSM Section request for the legacy AAVSO Monitoring Survey stars"
If you have any questions please let me know.
Thanks again,
Mike
Mike,
Do you have any more variables in need of adoption? My BL Tel and FY Lib data have not shown up yet and if there are some still in need let me know.
Ed
Hi Ed,
Identification of additional targets are on the To_Do list.
As you know new images for FY Lib won't be available until April and BL Tel in June. I believe Arne is looking at forwarding archived images for your analysis.
Thanks for you help,
Mike
Right, Mike: I knew that those targets would not show up for a while, no problem. I'll check the To Do list. Its been cloudy here in Central Texas for so long I am trying to keep out of the beer halls. :)
Ed
Did anyone take EU Del or RR Lyr?
Ed
Ed,
Yes, you can go to the BSM Section web-page (Observing Sections drop-down menu) to see the Target list and who have adopted each target.
Mike
Got it, Mike. Thanks,
Ed
Mike,
I'm already working on R CrB. My first measurements of images from BSM_NH2 have been posted.
Phil
Phil,
Thanks for including the BSM_NH2 reference in the Comment Block,
Mike
Mike,
I'd like to request a slight reset of the center of field pointing for R CrB to give me better comps. How do I go through the proper channels to do this?
Phil
Phil,
Just let me know the coordinates of the field you think is best. I assume the new center will maintain the original set of comparision stars and would capture one or more new ones. I believe you are not requesting any other observing plan parameter changes.
Clear Skies,
Mike
Mike,
Correct. Just a small adjustment of the center of the field is needed to capture another good comp star. I'll send you an email with the coordinates.
Thanks,
Phil
Hello! I had expressed an interest in adopting a target before, and now, I have the time.
Which targets are currently available with the Bright Star Monitor network? Thank you and best regards.
Mike
Sorry, there are no new targets right now but watch this space.
Thanks for your interest.
Mike
