Re: CHOICE Courses

Hello Mike,

Promises, promises...

From the link you provided:

"Those who successfully complete a course will be provided with a certificate, and it will also be included on their web site's user profile page..."

My course was never included on my profile page...   ;(

Nevertheless I just signed up for another one for this spring!

Cheers,

Certification Added!

Hello Helmar,

We appologize for the oversight.  Your certification has now been added to your profile page.  I am also investigating the reason for the error.

We are very glad to have you as a CHOICE alum and look forward to your participation this spring!

Best wishes,
Rebecca

Re: Certification added

Thanks, Rebecca!

I hope you noticed that I was not that serious... At the same time I couldn't imagine that I was that special, and - yes - I just saw Blake to chime in, so I am not the only one.

... investigating... as if you didn't have enough to do  :)

Best wishes,

Choice Class

Hi Rebecca. Sorry to pile on, but I am also missing a course on my profile page.  It is the Uncertainty class from 2012.  Is there any way you could check on that for me?

Thanks so much,

Blake

Hello Blake,

Thanks for letting us know!  I have asked the staff to do a widespread cross-check to try to clean up any missing certifications.  I will give an update once things have been resolved.

Thanks again and Best wishes,

Update

After some cross-checking yesterday the staff discovered 2 errors that led to the missing certifications.  The errors have been corrected and the missing certifications have been added.  Thanks again for the heads-up!

Best wishes,
Rebecca

VPhot course

Mike, Rebecca,

I'd like to register for the VPhot course.  The CHOICE page says registration is still open, but I can't find a listing for the course in the on-line store.  Can I still get in?

Logged in?

Hello Phil,

Yes, the VPHOT course is still listed in the store!  Since VPHOT itself is only available to AAVSO members, the course is also only available to members.  You must be logged into the AAVSO website for the store to recognize your membership status.  I suspect that you just weren't logged in.  If you still have difficulties after logging in, please let us know and we will investigate.

Best wishes,
Rebecca

VPHOT Choice class

I am a user of VPHOT and would like to take ths class to make my understanding of the software more complete. The problem is that I will be unavailable most of the first week in April. Would this interfere with my taking this class?

VPHOT Choice class

Hi Andy,

The way the courses I write are planned, you need to participate in the discussions and complete the quizzes in a timely manner each week. The third and fourth week are when we will really dive into some of the more advanced uses of VPHOT, so you would be missing out on the discussion and exercises for the portion of the course that is probably the most meaningful to you.

I don't think you will have to wait longh for the next VPHOT course. This one is filling up fast, so there will probably be people on a waiting list before long.
