Hi Arne and team,
Who should I go to in order to change exposure times on Mu Cep for BSM_NM2? These are images from the SNEWS campaign. I just received images in VPhot, and Mu Cep is around 12th mag, and the V image is 1 sec, and the B image is 5s, so Mu only has an SNR of 19 in V and SNR=12 in B. It is barely visible in the image. .
Please let me know.
Thanks,
Andrew Corkill (CANG)
Hi Andrew,
This star is a perennial issue. There are two variables:
miu Cep
MU Cep
where the "miu" is the best that we could do to represent a greek letter. MU and Mu are both interpreted as MU, and that is the faint star. miu, which I assume is the SNEWS target, is a 4th magnitude semiregular variable, which is why the exposures are short.
If the telescope is pointing to MU Cep instead, then that is a problem. Let me know.
Arne
Hi Arne,
Yes. The problem is the telescope is pointing at MU Cep instead of miu cep.
Thanks,
Andrew
