Hello All,
I am new to photometry. This is my first attempt at composing a light curve.
I watched the tutorial videos on using VPhot. I thought the format for uploading to VPhot was optional as to individual frames or as a .zip file. I uploaded 230 FITS files. When I checked the cue, I saw that others in cue were in .zip format.
Did I do something that is going to choke up the system? If so, is there a way to undo it?
Thanks -
Tony (ZADB)
Tony:
Either individual fits files or a zip file works. Individual files just take a bit longer to upload on internet.
I usually upload individual fits files. Just my routine.

Thanks, Ken. I thought I might have overloaded things.
VPhot seems like an amazing tool. I am testing it with calibrated files. I ran a light curve with AstroImageJ without calibration and the results seemed too good to be true. Once, I can verify the curve, I'll post my findings for more direction.

I use an ST8. I just upload the un-zipped 3.2 MB images. It goes fast. File operations goes fast.
If I had a 26MB image monster camera, I would zip the files before uploading and hope VPHOT would stay up long enough to complete the upload, or, better yet, create the AAVSO Report off line.
BTW, once you get a bunch of those big files uploaded, operations on them, like Stacking, takes much longer.

Hi Ray,
Thanks. I'm finding my way with things. Frankly, I like the stand-alone utilities, like AstroImageJ. But, VPHOT seems very intuitive and dialed in for our purposes here.
I am doing a comparison of my findings with SW Lac. I ran uncalibrated files through AstroImageJ and got a result that was very interesting. I just want to compare it to the processing through VPHOT.
I guess there's a lot of demand on the servers here. Sometimes, things move a bit slow. But, I would imagine it's churning a lot of data.
