The VSX about page does a good job describing the conventions used in the type. However, do not see the use of the colon defined. As in the difference between ACEP and ACEP:.

Hi Cliff,
a colon after the variability type -or any other field- means the value/classification is uncertain.
In your example "ACEP:" means the object hasn't been confirmed as an anomalous cepheid.
We will add this to the document ASAP.
