Another milestome for us: we just reached 400,000 records on VSX!! The star of interest is NGC 2099 CBH V2002 in Auriga, an unclassified multiperiod variable in the field of M37, with a primary period of 0.3913 days. Here's the relevant VSX entry:

I am grateful for the VSX team's diligence and hard work. VSX is the backbone of the AAVSO, and a great service to our international community. A challenge for you all: can we figure out what type of variable this star is?

The total number of objects in VSX right now is 400,023 :)
This one is more than a challenge to observe: its amplitude is smaller than 0.01 mag.!!
I think that the 400,000 one was a typical example of what we see more and more these days: very small amplitude variables discovered in systematic searches.
I hope that #500,000 is a little easier to observe!!
