Hi All,
the AAVSO DSLR Observing Manual has been updated and version 1.4 is now available from here. I'd like to thank participants in the three C.H.O.I.C.E. DSLR Photometry courses that have been run so far. I think the current document is much improved thanks to their valuable feedback on earlier versions.
A second document, Supplemental Information: Photometry Software Calibrations and Photometry Tutorials, is also available from the same web page. It contains step by step instructions for performing DSLR photometry using four common photometry programs. Currently these are IRIS (V5.59), Muniwin (V2.0.17), AIP4Win (2.4.8) and MaxImDL (V6.10). The tutorials were developed and refined during the courses and it is intended that more will be added as they become available.
Please take a look and feel free to point out the inevitable typos and errors that always seem to creep through despite countless re-reading.
The Manual refers to a spreadheet for reduction of instrumental magnitudes to transformed magnitudes. I'm still working on the instructions document, they'll be available from the DSLR Manual web page shortly. Cheers,
Mark
Thanks for these Mark and all. Great work!
I look forward to seeing the latest spreadsheet and instructions too.
David
Hi All,
as promised, the reduction spreadsheet and instructions are now available from the DSLR Manual page here. Scroll down to the Supplementary Material section at the bottom of the page.
I need to provide another example data worksheet to illustrate differential air mass corrections. Once I've prepared that I'll update the spreadsheet file and post a note on this forum. Cheers,
Mark
Hi Mark
I'm about to use the new spreadsheet for L2 Pup and R Car. The instructions are very good.
What I'm most excited about is the first class extension to BVR. I've only submitted DSLR V observations (and Tri-Color G for a nova or two) but B and R, especially the former, are now within easier reach.
Thank you!
See you later today at VSSS4.
David
Hi David:
This VSSS4 looks like a great program. Unfortunately I can't quite make it down in time (from Canada) before the program begins (or before my bank account expires into insolvency.) Do you know if they make any of the presentations/posters available online after the event?

Hi Rick
It was a very good day. About to fly home.
My understanding is that some of the talks will be available to a broader audience, at least to all NACAA attendees. There may be some papers/talks that are unavailable. I can pass the request on to the NACAA organisers or put you in contact with particular authors if that would help.
David
Well done Mark
BIG ... and great job!
I will read it with pleasure!
It's the new DSLR photometry 'bible' !

Mark,
Since it isn't possible to provie .xls versions of the latest spreadsheet (V2.6) are there any critical differences between V2.5 and V2.6 for those of us who can't use the new version.

Never mind, I was able to convert it.
