WooHoo! Thanks to Arne Henden, we now have a standard cluster (M11) below the equator at 6 degrees south.

Arne has uploaded photometric magnitudes for this cluster into the VSP. Therefore, we now have a standard field that we can use for generation of transformation coefficients.

I used the VSP to open this standard field. Since M11 is not a known target, I used RA/Dec as follows (18 51 06 and -06 16 00). It does take a little compromise in FOV and minimum magnitude due to the number of comps. Selecting all comps (wide and faint) sometimes gives a plot error due to too many comps!

The following combinations worked (without DSS image):

10’ at 16 mag

15’ at 14 mag

15’ at 15 mag

15’ includes all std comps. 10’ truncates a few. With the DSS image one needs to be a little more conservative to avoid the plot error.

I've passed this info on to Gordon Myers and George Silvis, so we may expect that this standard field can be used in TG and TA in the not too distant future.

Thanks again to Arne!  surprise
