We are nearing the end of the first quarter of our centennial year. This is a good time to take a look at what has transpired thus far and what is yet to come.

The Twenty Million and Counting! Contest is over now that the database has passed this milestone. The winner, with the prediction closest to the actual day of the milestone was Christopher Watson of San Diego, California.
A citizen science project running for over 100 years reached a key milestone this month when an amateur astronomer contributed the 20 millionth observation of a variable star on February 19, 2011.
To help support our 2011 Centennial Celebration the AAVSO is offering special commemorative T-shirts in exchange for your $50.00 donation to the AAVSO. This was a limited edition run of 200 shirts only (update: about 130 left as of May, 2011). Once they are gone they are gone. We will never produce these collector items again.
