There are 5 stars (mag. 16-18) inside a 20" radius. The closest one to the variable is 2MASS J17290637-2943237 (V= 15.9; sep. 6"). The magnitudes published in the literature are for the blend. Magnitudes derived from CMC14 and UCAC4 are V= 16.3 and V= 16.5 respectively. The range given comes from the original Terzan et al. publication (1982).
