My first contact with the new website has been the usage of WebObs last week. At first I tried the top menu but I did not find WebObs. Then I used the "website search" on top, but this seems to be a forum search only. All found links have been like "webobs down" or "webobs broken" or "webobs bug". But no link to WebObs. A text search on the start page also did not find anything. Then I scrolled down twice and used "submit and access data". Negative. In the end I found the link in "tools and observer resources".

When uploading the first file to WebObs I got the same error message as already discussed here in the forum.

My primary pages on the AAVSO website are VSX, WebObs and the light curve generator.

One remark after writing the above post: Whenever I start a new thread I get an error message like "can't send email".

Thanks For your feedback

Hello,

Thank you for your feedback.

1.) For your first point WebObs as you found is under the "Tools and Observer Resources" page. However, you can also access it from "Submit and Access Data". Clicking on the "Upload Photometry" Link at the top of the page will take you straight there. Since webobs is no longer the only user submission tool we have, we broke it down by data type instead. I apologize for the confusion.

2.) Can you please send us the file you were trying to upload so we can help you figure out the problem: aavso@aavso.org .

3.) All of these are buttons at the top of Tools and observer resources so if you bookmark this page you can get to all of these quite easily.

Sincerely,

new site

Ugly, blocky, difficult to use, looks like the windows 8 desktop. According to another AAVSO member, a word too undignified for these pages that rhymes with 'fit'. Oh yes, and SeqPlot crashed my system, and his too. Apart from that, terrific.

New Web site

Dreadful - not Mike's comments but the new web site.   Words fail me!

Considering how many times the AAVSO have been asking for money in donations over the past 12 months, I hope you haven't paid big bucks for this.  If you have, you've been spitroasted!

missing feature

Hi!

I kindof miss the feature that the subjects of the last N (used to be 2) forum postings were shown on the home page. I would not mind if the boxy links  to "Resources" and the massive top banner would shrink a but to give way for this (with N ~ 4 perhaps).

As for the new style: relax!!! Everything that is new at first appears strange...we will get used to it. The old website did look a bit dated in style!

Cheers

HB

Updating awards in the new web page

Observer awards have not been updated for 2021 or 2022.  Is there an intention to keep these up to date, or are these no longer going to be recorded.  Just curious.
