Issue uploading 32bit float FITS

I think this is the first time I've attemped to upload 1x1 32bit float fits files since the move. These worked before the move to the new server. If I attempt to upload one now, I get the following error:

Flash object reported an HTTPError (404) attempting to upload file [NGC 2146 - SN 2018zd - Luminance.FIT]

If I save the file to a 16bit fits, it works. 32bit 2x2 float fits appear to work fine. The 1x1 files are 32 MB so size isn't an issue.

Ditto

I just encountered the same thing.  Not a big deal as I can convert to 16-bit but it did work before.

Might have something to do with size

Correct. I never had an issue in the past. I can upload 32bit 2x2 files without issue. I'm wondering if the limit is less than the 50MB or something like that.

Upload Size

Hi Dan and Geoff:

With the new system, your observation of upload size limit of smaller than 50 MB may be real? Actual test is a good practice. We will look into the code to see if we can correct?

I think 16 bit images work just as effectively in most cases. I suspect your camera is a 16 bit CCD anyway?

16bit does work but...

16bit does work but my typical output is 32bit with the stacking. I think the files are 32mb. I have binning everything recently so it shouldn't be an issue going forward anyway but I suspect others could run into an issue.

Any testing / progress?

I was wondering if anyone looked into this? I push this one to the top again because we have a couple of local people that have expressed an interest but they have ZWO ASI1600 cameras and if this is a size issue, they'll be out of luck because the only binning with these CMOS cameras is really through software.

VPhot upload size limit increased

Ken Menzies identified a possible fix and I have made the adjustment to the server. So, try it again!

You should also examine the need for using the floating point format FITS image. Most CMOS cameras are 12bit and even if you stack and average, 16bit int should capture the improved resolution. This will half the size of the file and save bandwidth.
