As some of you may have noticed, for the past several weeks, we have not been able to get DSS image overlays on VSP charts. This is because NASA's SkyView service detected an unusually high number of requests from one of its users and blocked access to all Amazon Web Service clients (of which we are one).
We have been in touch with the SkyView administrator to let them know that we are fairly certain that AAVSO users were not the problem - making up to 8 simultaneous requests for DSS images. As a result, our service has now been restored. Unfortunately, it is possible that the service may be blocked again should the high usage problem resume.
