As a 25 year member of the organization, I thought I was reasonably aware of all the hard work that numerous individuals do to keep the AAVSO moving forward. Now four months into my presidency, I can honestly say that being immersed in the "sausage making" has made me even more awestruck by the dedication, passion, and knowledge of the thousand plus individuals who make up our organization. This includes everyone at headquarters, the VSX team, our dedicated observers (where would we be without you?), those who are working on archival projects (such as the Eggen card project), John Percy and the JAAVSO team, myriad members (and others) who donate time, physical resources, and funds to help keep the organization healthy, productive, and forward-thinking, my fellow council members (three hour teleconferences are so much easier to bear when you are working with awesome individuals!), professional astronomers who use our data and let the world know about what we do, and everyone else who contributes in any way to making the AAVSO what it is - the PREMIERE pro-am astronomy collaboration in the world!
