Hi all,

"Firochromis" is the nickname I use in internet. Even my social media account and webpage is named with it. Naturally while registering to the AAVSO forums I used it. But as I used the forums and other AAVSO activities I see that many people prefer their obscodes as forum names. I know it is not a necesity or something but I wonder peoples point of view about this issue. I'm a new member with no uploaded data yet. But soon I'll be sending datas and asking questions etc. Is it easier to use the obscode for forum too?

Obscode as username

Hello Firat,

Although many people use their observer code for their username, it certainly isn't required and in fact there are probably just about the same number of people who don't use their obscode. It is easy enough for someone to find out your obscode anyway - they just have to click on your username to see it in your profile.

In other words, it is up to you, there is no standard.

If you would like to change your username, please contact me offline and I will be happy to do it for you as there is no way for you to do it yourself. (sara [at] aavso.org)

With very best regards,
Sara
