Captured Qatar9b January 14, 2024

144 - 90 second images using V filter. I can share the images on VPHOT if you'd like to examine them.

ADU counts for Qatar9b approximately 3,200

I welcome all comments and criticism.

I am signed up for Dr Conti's class in February.

Thanks

Maybe an R filter would have been better?

Since Qatar9b is a K-type star?

Hi Steve,

Happy first…

Hi Steve,

Happy first captured transit! The data looks good at first glance. When you process the result in AIJ and create a trend, it will become more clear how close you are to the known model. I don't know if your equipment allows it, but not being an expert, I would have the exposure no longer than 60 seconds to have better time resolution.

I envy you for Dennis's course. I want to sign up, but it's at an inconvenient time of day for me.

Good luck!

Hi

Keep in mind that you…

Hi

Keep in mind that you need a minimum SNR of 100 on the target star. I generally run between 150 and 300. You want a pretty high cadence so I try to select targets with adequate brightness so that your system can achieve the SNR range I mentioned while keeping  the exposures reasonably low. My exposures  generally range from 30-120 secs.
