This may be slightly off topic, but does anyone in the AAVSO know of a place where a telescope can be sent to be repaired for a reasonable price?
I recently purchased a Meade 8" LX10 SCT that was "slightly used," but found out after unpacking it and trying to use it that the housing with the secondary mirror is loose, and this, of course, makes it nearly impossible to collimate correctly. The only way to tighten it up would be to remove the corrector plate and get inside, then replace it carefully. This is something that I'm reluctant to do on my own.
Thanks in advance!
