AAVSO ALERT NOTICE 139 (March 29, 1991)
NOVA HERCULIS 1991
This bright nova is fading rather fast as indicated by the following observations:
Mar 26.367 UT 7.5 (J. Bortle)
26.404 7.7 (J. Bortle)
26.81 7.6 (R. H. McNaught)
27.79 8.1 (R. H. McNaught)
28.5 8.0 (R. Royer)
29.5 8.3 (R. Royer) - the nova appeared quite red
Accompanying is an AAVSO chart prepared by C. E. Scovil. Please monitor this nova
as closely as you can using the few photoelectric comparison star magnitudes and
the letter sequences indicated on the new chart. We are in the process of
preparing another finder chart with fainter comparison star magnitudes.
The answering machine at Headquarters (617-354-0484) is kept on nights and
weekends. Please call in your observations so we can relay them to the Central
Bureau For Astronomical Telegrams.
OUTBURST OF 2325+43 DX ANDROMEDAE
Patrick Schmeer (Bischmisheim, Germany) informed us that the dwarf nova 2325+43
DX Andromedae is undergoing an outburst as indicated by his observations of March
28.169 UT, magnitude 11.8. This cataclysmic variable had a short outburst in May
1990 and a long bright one in November 1989 as the accompanying light curve shows.
The present outburst may be another bright one. Please monitor it as much as
you can.
