Hi,
the AAVSO Newsletter for July 2014 was announced on the Recent Activities section of the Home Page a few days ago, but there is no link to it on the Newsletter page:
http://www.aavso.org/aavso-newsletter
Cheers,
Mark
Thanks Ken for setting me straight. I was expecting the link to be similar to the links to earlier Newsletters listed lower down the page. I should have been more careful and read the page properly. Cheers,
Mark
I see from the thread that Mark's question about the latest AAVSO Newsletter was answered, but I did not see the answer. So, for others who might be trying to find the newsletter, here's the answer:
Access to the AAVSO Newsletter on the day it is issued and for a month afterward is a membership benefit. Once the newsletter has been online for a month, it will be made accessible to non-members as well and the familiar links to the high- and low-resolution versions will appear on the newsletter page.
If you are a member, above the place you expect to see the links will be a short paragraph that starts "You are an AAVSO member. You may download..." and that includes links.
Originally the AAVSO Newsletter was a membership benefit, and we sent it to non-members as well only when we published the annual observer totals. Now that those totals are published in the Annual Report, which is available to everyone, the first 30 days of access to the newsletter has been reinstated as a benefit of membership.
If you are a member and cannot find the newsletter, please let us know. If you are not a member, please consider joining - you will have access to more AAVSO web elements and you will be helping support the organization you care about!
Good observing,
Elizabeth Waagen, AAVSO HQ
After I sent my recent posting, we decided to make it easier for members to find the newsletter links, so we moved the text that starts "You are an AAVSO member" below the Number 61 - April 2014 line.
Good reading and observing,
Elizabeth
