How to participate in aavso?

Hey,

I do not have much knowledge about AAVSO But I want to participate in scientific discovery through variable star astronomy. 

Is there any buddy who can guide me how can I participate on it? What are the essential thing should we have before participating?

I will be waiting to someone's response.
