Any gripes about star fields which cause problems with identification due to self-similar patterns? I ask because recently I believe I may have made a misident with V1117 Her, one of my favourite stars. Using the graphic attached, I think this may have been caused by thinking the 'red' group (8m star - star A - 120) was actually the 'blue' group (8m star - 120 -123)
Some years ago a VERY experienced observer likewise misidentified V Cam due to the presence of two very similar triangles in the field, one of which included the variable (V Cam observers will know what I mean) - both triangles were not only similar in shape, but in orientation as well.
DR Cyg (I think) is another example. Any others?
