edX, a consurtium led by Haaaaaaaaaaarvard and MIT, is currently offering a series of four on-line courses on elementary astrophysics from the Australian National University. I just completed the first course (Unsolved Mysteries of the Universe) and report that it was truly excellent! Both the primary professors (John Francis and (nobel laureate) Brian Schmidt) were involved, and it made for a very engaging course.
But the big news for the AAVSO is that this fall, the third portion of the course, entitled "The Violent Universe" will include CVs as part of the material.
