Hi All,
I just wanted to let you know that beginning on Monday February 6th, and running for four weeks (until March 3), AAVSO member/observer Blake Crosby will be teaching the ever-popular Variable Star Classification and Light Curves CHOICE course.
If you ever wondered what is really going on physically with each type of variable star to produce all of the different kinds of light variations we see, this beginner-level course is for you!
Also discussed will be variable star naming conventions both historical and modern-day which can really be helpful when you are trying to make sense of things.
If you have never taken a CHOICE course before and would like to see what they are all about, the "Light Curves" course is a great place to start! As with all CHOICE courses, it is being taught 100% online using a private forum that only you, your instructor, and your fellow classmates will have access to. You will be given downloadable reading assignments and an opportunity to answer questions and discuss what you read on the forum. You also have the opportunity to ask questions of your instructor and take weekly quizzes to test your understanding of the subject matter.
There are still places available and it isn't too late to sign up for next week's class. Please visit the AAVSO store to register. CHOICE courses are only $30 for members and $50 for non-members.
