A DASCH search revealed a previous (super?)outburst recorded on Harvard plates:
1920 April 14.205 UT, mpg. 10.92
1920 April 14.250 UT, mpg. 11.01
1920 April 22.085 UT, mpg. 11.83
1920 April 22.216 UT, mpg. 11.33
ASASSN-22jz looks like a WZ Sge-type dwarf nova outburst (amplitude 9 magnitudes) at a distance of ~230 pc.
Time-resolved photometry is urgently required.
