Lots going on with the network - some good and some bad!  Several of the AAVSOnet volunteers will be at the Fall meeting, and I suggest that we find someplace to gather and discuss the network.  Friday is a nice convenient day for those of us not on the Board, as it is an open day between the Spectroscopy workshop and the regular meeting.  Perhaps others would be interested?  As always, an AAVSOnet sub-meeting is open to ANY observer or member who might be interested in the network, whether volunteering to help or using the facility.

Cliff Kotnik is starting a test of using the Amazon Cloud to serve AAVSOnet.  A migration from the HQ physical computers to a cloud-based solution is potentially going to be required when HQ moves, and we need to understand the impact of such a transition.  George Silvis has been working with Diffraction Limited to create a dual filter wheel option for MaximDL.  This is now working on BSM_NH2, and potentially could be added to other BSM setups.  Arne has been testing Optolong and Chroma filters, as well as finishing tests on several cameras.  Ken Menzies has been working on filter naming conventions and maintaining the observing queues.  Gary Walker continues his Bright Spectral Robot project, potentially part of the network sometime in the future.

BSM_Berry.  This system is currently down.  The ZWO camera has failed and is being repaired under warranty.

BSM_Hamren.  This system has been having "joysticking" issues with its Paramount ME mount.  We haven't been able to figure out the issue, since no joystick is attached.  Perhaps someone with Paramount expertise can help?  We will continue working on this issue, but until it is resolved, this system is off-line.

BSM_NH2.  Fully operational.

BSM_NM.  The camera has developed moisture problems.  Bill Stein is working on the issue.

BSM_S.  This system is off-line.  Peter Nelson moved recently, and has not gotten this observatory rebuilt.

BSM_TX.  Fully operational.  This system will be upgraded in a month or so to a QHY268m camera and filter wheel.

OC61.  Fully operational.  This system will be upgraded in about two months to a QHY600 camera and filter wheel.

SRO.  Not quite on-line yet after the monsoon shutdown.  There are some dome shutter issues that John Gross is diagnosing.

TMO61.  Operational, but only with Sloan filters for the time being.

Hi Arne,

1) Will this…

Hi Arne,

1) Will this meeting also be available via Zoom?? If not, I'll try and come down for it.

2) Regarding server(s): are you suggesting that new AAVSO facility won't have access to high speed internet or be too small to accomodate server rack? Any opportunity for some other local organization (S&T, ATMoB) to host?? ATMoB has MAO control computer running 24/7, it MAY be possible to install in Westford provided that it requires very little physical access.
