February 5, 2008: Supernova 2008Q (Villi et al. 2008, CBET 1228; Stanishev 2008, CBET 1232) is a bright supernova of type-Ia in the S0 galaxy NGC 524. On 2008 January 29, Stanishev classified this as a type-Ia approximately one week prior to maximum. Stan Howerton (Arkansas City, Kansas) reports an estimate for SN 2008Q at m(vis) = 13.7 on the night of 2008 February 4/5 local time (approximate JD 2454501.75). Further observations of this type-Ia supernova are encouraged.
SN 2008Q is located at RA: 1 24 57.23 , Dec: +9 33 01.5 (J2000)
