Nova Monocerotis 2012 = PNV J06393874+0553520 [V959 Mon]
Discovered by: Shigehisa Fujikawa (Kanonji City, Kagawa Prefecture, Japan, reported by Mitsuru Soma, National Astronomical Observatory of Japan)
Discovery Magnitude: magnitude 9.4 C using a 105mm camera lens+CCD
Discovery date: 2012 Aug. 09.8048 UT
Coordinates: 06 39 38.74 +05 53 52.0 (2000.0)
Spectra: Spectra by Stephane Charbonnel (Observatoire de Haute Provence, reported by Christian Buil, Castanet, France) on 2012 Aug. 14.137 UT, James Edlin (Observatoire de Haute Provence) on 2012 Aug. 14.140 UT, and by Kazuyoshi Imamura (Okayama University of Science team) on 2012 Aug. 16.808 UT indicate the object to be a nova; Imamura's data indicate a classical nova evolving toward the nebular phase.
