Ealier today I started getting errors running VPHOT.  I thought perhaps it was a server problem but its now persisted for over 12 hours.

The following error is recieved simply by clicking on an image in the list of images.  Everything was working fine early this morning.  I've tried clearing my browser cache and restarting but it still fails the same way.

Help!

Geoff

It works for me

It works for me - no idea what happened with your session ...

ME TOO!

I had the same issue. Mine were iTelescope images (T24). Ken & George are working on it.

May be a coincidence

It may be nothing but I do know that my images were sharing the processing queue with your T24 images prior to this happening.  They were intermixed in when uploaded.

Perhaps its a clue?

Intermittent But Frequent Problem Today

VPhot Users:

George and I are aware of this problem and trying to resolve. It appears to be some sort of server resource problem even though it reports that we have enough memory.

It is definitely intermittent (worst kind to debug) but it is frequent enough that we should be able to discover the cause and fix. frown

We will keep you advised. Sorry!

unhandled exception

The error messages pretty clearly show the problem was caused when executing some function of the program, it exceeded allocated memory for the application, and the programmers did not catch that type of error, and provide some alternate graceful way to exit that function and continue processing. Robust error handling is very important for programs like this, that run automatically and can receive a wide range of possible, often unexpected user inputs.

Working now??

Geoff et al:

May just have done it on its own? Intermittent!   frown

It is still being looked at by George and Geir.

OK, it is my turn now

VPHOT reports that the UPLOAD IS COMPLETE but see the results of uploaded files: althow the uplload bars are fill up with blue color the number of files are 0/6 and of course no one file appears in IMAGE section - funny mystery.

Progress

Velimir et al:

Interesting observation. However, I wonder if it is related to an internet connection problem?

In any case, we are continuing to debug these recent problems. We have two new members helping with future programming efforts. One happens to be a DataBase Administrator (DBA). We are looking carefully at the entire system with the hope that we can resolve both hardware and software issues.

We have some ideas and are carefully working on trying out some changes in a methodical fashion.

Same experience...

Hello,

I'm experiencing exactly the same problem as Velimir. I'm not able to upload my images to vphot for the moment.

I also noticed this problem.

I also noticed this problem. Upload wizard after the file has finished uploading shows this message

VPhot memory problems

Sorry about the difficulties you all are running into on VPhot. We are working on the problem and hope to have a fix/upgrade in place soon.

VPhot Update

Fellow VPhot Users:

Take a look at how long it takes to go from "click here to login to VPhot" to your image list!

I've had four friends try so far. We get <5 secs or so! A lot better than 60s! I hope you get about the same? (Send negative response only.)

Ken

PS: We have some more changes coming too.

Again is my turn

The same issue as in my previous post from 08/30/2016.

VPHOT reports that the UPLOAD IS COMPLETE but nothing happens. The number of images stays 0/11 and no one file appears in IMAGE section.

See the attached screenshot.

Regards,

Velimir

P.S. Something more:

My photometric results in ANALYSES LOG before July 2016 disappeared. Normally the uploaded images were erased after a certain time but the results not. Now the situation is different.  It is very sad because I need them for my future work... sad

Working Now 4:03 am, No Que

Just uploaded, no Que, No waiting, all ok.  Had a 996 KB/Sec upload at MMO.  It was great.  Over 10x what I have at Home.

missing images, analyses

Velimir,

From the log I see the files processed... So they are not being identifed as yours....

Is there anything unique about the images that went missing? Same target? Same scope?

Have you used the "Image Transfer (Connect Accounts)" feature in VPhot / Admin? This should not be used. It created a problem similar to what you describe here for another user.

Hi George,

Hi George,

Nothing special, a few old images that were uploaded before (one and a half year ago - January 2015). These images of course were erased automaticaly by VPHOT after expiration period. I have just needed to repeat some photometry again.

As usual I use: UPLOAD / QUICK  UPLOAD - I never have tried Image Transfer (Connect Accounts) and as I know, I never have made a mistakes with the telescopes wink

So it is unclear for me how to help you more in this issue ...

P.S.

Hi George once again,

Can you help me with my old photometric results in ANALYSES LOG?  The old logs disappeared after VPHOT upgrades. Do you think that is possible to recover them?

Analysis logs

Velimir,

Alas, old logs have been removed from the system. These should have been deleted along with the images on the 120 hold-schedule; a oversite in the code left them there. I'm not sure they would have been of value without the image files, but maybe so. The existence of these old logs were part of the reason VPhot performance was so poor; the db was had accumulated too much history.

So, the watch word is that VPhot is not a place for storing data. Load it up, grind through your analysis, and then download everything you need to save.

George
