On behalf of AAVSO Observers, Brad Schaefer, Elizabeth, and I are proud to announce the beginning of the T CrB pre-eruption dip as announced on ATEL this morning. We have a more detailed discussion of this event on the main AAVSO website. We could only draw this conclusion because of your hard work acquiring, reducing, and submitting multi-color photometry on the system.

We don't anticipate the system to erupt until 2024.4 +/- 0.3 years, so there is still plenty of time to get ready. But once the system erupts, the light show only lasts two weeks. Don't miss out on this twice-in-a-lifetime event.

If you are already observing the system, please keep it up! Your data has already proven valuable and will continue to yield interesting results in the near future.

If you are interested in observing T CrB, please note that there is an active Observing Campaign for the system. The information there should help you get going.

If you just want to get prepared for the eruption, the image below from Stellarium should give you an idea where it can be located in the sky. You might also find the VSP A chart for T CrB useful.
