The AB Aur campaign has asked observers to use a specific comp star and check star for all observations. When I load an image into VPHOT and call up the comp star catalog, it brings 120 comp star 000-BKG-374, but not 000-BPN-255. The latter star is the one that we are asked to use as the check star. 000-BPN-255 was recently added to the AAVSO photometry database. Could that be why it is not being called up automatically in VPHOT? I am also concerned that observers are using the wrong check star because of the issue. I'd appreciate your help resolving the issue.
Thanks,
Walt
Walt:
There is an inconsistency in VSP and the auid you reported. Look at VSP chart and photometry table for AB Aur not the RA/Dec. Something is not correct. BPN-255 is the 120 comp. BKG-374 does not exist.
I recommend you bring this to the attention of the sequence team.
