0242-30B Supernova 2003B near NGC 1097

Active Dates: Jan. 5, 2003 – Jan. 5, 2003

Abstract:

The observing campaign focuses on Supernova 2003B, discovered near the galaxy NGC 1097 in the Fornax constellation. The supernova was first detected with a visual magnitude of ~15.0 using a 0.41-m reflector telescope.

Justification:

Monitoring the light curve and spectral evolution of Supernova 2003B will provide valuable data on the characteristics and behavior of type-II supernovae, especially those observed 2-3 weeks past maximum brightness.
