In the AAVSO DB, the object is identified as "3C 279" (mind the space!), not 3C279 as in the ATEL.

It should be noted that 3C 279 is not just "any" blazar, it was interesting enough to be studied by the Event Horizon Telescope back in 2017 (that's the massive network of radio telescopes that gave us the first image of the shaddow of a black hole in the year that must not be named :-) )
