Hello,

This is an interesting transient event which first detected by SWIFT telescope as a GRB alert and was given the name GRB 230824A, on the same day it was reported as a transient event by Mi Zhang and Xing Gao (Xingming Obs.) ( https://www.wis-tns.org/object/2023qql ).

I observed this object on 24 August, 4.5 hours after the GRB using Al-Khatim Observatory in Abu-Dhabi, UAE, it was of magnitude 13.5. Yesterday it brightened by 0.5 magnitude and it was 13.

This transient has been confirmed as a new low-mass X-ray binary (LMXB) hosting a black hole candidate according to A. J. Castro-Tirado et al., see ATel#16208, https://www.astronomerstelegram.org/?read=16208 . Multi-band photometric and spectroscopic observations are strongly encouraged.

The object is added to The International Variable Star Index catalogue and photometric observations can be submitted through AAVSO website.
