Specifications for the AAVSO Official Report Format

This Official AAVSO report format was released on January 15, 2008.

Observations sent to the AAVSO either by file upload in WebObs (which requires logging in to Blue&Gold first) or via email, must be formatted in the Official AAVSO Format. Below are links to the Official Visual and Extended formats.

1. Official AAVSO Visual Format: This format is used for visual and photographic observations

2. Official AAVSO Extended Format: This format is used for photometric observations (CCD, PEP, etc.)

The formats are very similar. However, the extended format includes more fields for the additional information we would like to record about photometric observations. Both formats are ASCII text based and delimited based on a character of your choice (as opposed to the original format which was column deliminated).
