Dr. Frederick Walter (Stony Brook University) requests AAVSO observers' assistance in monitoring the T Tau star V908 Sco (= Sz 114) in support of HST observations scheduled for July 9 - THIS WEEK.

HST is scheduled to observe V908 Sco: 2022 July 09 10:32:44 - 20:55:38 UT

As part of the HST ULLYSES program (which is part of the larger ODYSSEUS program), the HST is scheduled to obtain UV spectra of this accreting T Tauri star. It would be helpful to have BVRI photometry for it in order to help interpret the UV spectra.

Coordinates (2000.0): R.A. 16 09 01.85  Dec -39 05 12.5 (from VSX page for V908 Sco)

Range: 14.61 - 14.98 V

If you can observe V908 Sco, please obtain digital BVRI photometry now through July 10. It is important to get single BVRI sequences each night, but longer sets of data would be useful if they can be obtained simultaneously with the HST observations. There will not be any TESS observations.

Finder charts with comparison stars for V908 Sco may be created using the AAVSO Variable Star Plotter (VSP).

Please submit your observations to the AAVSO International Database using the name V908 SCO.

Targets for this large campaign have been announced and discussed in numerous AAVSO Alert Notices, beginning with AAVSO Alert Notice 741.

This AAVSO Alert Notice was compiled by Elizabeth O. Waagen using material provided by Dr. Walter.
